Best Review:

It’s been about seventeen years since the duo of best friends cops punished Johnny Tapia and thus the last time he was shown on the big screen. Since the year 2013, a river of rumors has spilled over as the explosive and controversial tandem of co-ops Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett returned. They started talking about the continuation of the rumor, and then they stopped talking for unknown reasons. One of the alleged obstacles to the third movie was too tight schedule of one of the main stars – Will Smith, according to another version of this factor was the reluctance of the company to shoot the continuation. Let’s not go into details of the production of the picture, because it does not matter. The main thing is that the third part was born after all, we waited for it and we are very happy about it. Because it’s really worth seeing.

The last parts came out under the direction of, perhaps, the biggest fan of epicism in world cinema – Michael Bay. But he didn’t want to go back to the franchise, so Sony had to find a replacement. It was the director’s long search that was to blame for the fact that the Boys’ way back to theaters was so long. In the end, the steering was entrusted to everyone, two strangers who wouldn’t remember much of anything. For Belgian directors Adil El Arby and Bilal Falla, the right to stage such an important project is a huge vote of confidence and a test of pen in the dimension of big cinema. Is it worth saying that the studio took risks with this decision? However, it did. Although the change in management cost the movie his unique style.

What do we remember about Bad Boys 3? In short, they have sparkling kid humor, crazy drive and a little bit of drama mixed in one killer cocktail. But mostly it was a deliberate light show, the perfect tool for relaxation. The triquel is much harsher than its older brothers because it adheres to a different recipe where the humor/drama ratio is clearly not in favor of the former. Not surprisingly, the heroes get gray, start to give in to reflection more (especially Markus), from them it is foolish to expect the same recklessness as a decade ago. In addition, the movie quite unexpectedly makes you think that the resources of the human body are also exhausted, even with hot heads like Mike, and perhaps it’s time to settle down, put down roots, enjoy a peaceful life, admiring the sunset lying on a hammock under a palm tree. As the protagonists ponder their next steps, a new threat rises from the depths of criminal Tartarus in the face of a dangerous opponent who can make a fuss over the idle Miami. All you need to know about the antagonist is that he’s really scary. And no, it’s not about physical flaws, ugliness like a huge scar of half face, which used to love to reward the supporters of evil, but its uncompromising, inevitability and determination. The sensation that accompanies his screen “presence” in tone is comparable to the scenes of the atrocities of Bane from Nolanovskogo “Revival of the legend. Both of these characters are the embodiment of ruthless omnipotent power, reckoning and punishment. The fact that this guy is not to be fooled around is evidenced by his perfect combat training and, of course, by the beliefs that resulted from the early seeds of gangster radical religious morality on which he was raised. A technique used by a young duo of directors is as old as the rest of the world, but it works. The enemy stirs the imagination, forcing us to fear for our unsuspecting heroes, who you sympathize with since their first case back in 1995. And all this effect of growing anxiety is multiplied by the intensely humming soundtrack written by Lorne Belf.

The guys may have gotten older, lost their invulnerability and become a little more careful, but they’re still good in action and enemies won’t let them get bored either. There’s everything you need for a great fighter: shooting, chasing, siege, spectacular hand-to-hand combat. And in the scale of combat scenes new “Boys” are not inferior to the previous pictures of the series. All you have to do to see is watch the final battle.

“Bad Boys for Life” is primarily an action movie with a lot of luxury action scenes, not a comedy. Still, there are funny moments here too, though I’ll say it’s noticeably diminished again. For jokes and gags here is mainly responsible for a new team of agents, consisting of Kelly (Vanessa Ann Hudgens), Dorn (Alexander Ludwig), Rafa (Charles Melton), Rita (Paola Nunez). The gang perfectly blended into the franchise, successfully launching taunters at two aksakals, reminding them that the police have little to know how to shoot well, you must also masterfully repel verbal attacks of colleagues. All this thrash-tock is more or less going through the whole movie, it’s pleasant, appropriate and funny in some places, but most importantly, it dilutes the dark mystery of the plot, reminding us that we are still watching the action movie with elements of humor.

And yet the hallmark of the original has always been the chemistry between two best friends-partners. Is there the same inextricable, strong bond between Will and Martin as years ago or is it no longer the same? Fears have been in vain. The characters still feel each other well, which is manifested in lively emotional dialogues and shootings. And competently written script really burns, throwing the main characters in various crazy sometimes comical, sometimes deadly situations, to get out of which, they allow friendship and excellent knowledge of each other. It’s also nice that the authors have paid due respect to the legacy of Will, Martin and Michael, not forgetting to insert into the picture “awkward moments” – hilarious situations, like an episode in the store of household appliances from the second movie.

In terms of fan service “Forever” also caught on to the bull’s-eye. There are excellent references to the past parts, revealing the fate of some characters in the years of life of the heroes away from the camera. There are moments that cause an acute attack of nostalgia like the opening episode, when Mike’s car sneaks through the busy streets of gorgeous Miami, and Bob Marley starts singing “Bad boys, bad boys, what are you gonna do, what are you gonna do, when I come for you”, forcing the whole hall to accompany him. Yeah, it’s still great that the guys came back, one last time. Or isn’t it?

Well, let’s sum it up. “Bad boys for life” is the right sequel to the famous late ’90s and early ‘2000s action comedy. As heroes should be, they’re older, wiser, but no less dangerous. In place of youthful dementia and courage came the tactics and experience, although the desire to fool around with a couple of buddies also did not go anywhere that they willingly demonstrate in the movie. Basically it’s what we’ve been waiting for: a loaded action movie with a dizzying, tooth-breaking action game about two very different, but devoted to each other and the common cause. Despite the long acquaintance with the heroes, here we learn something else about them, still observe their growth as characters. It was a very successful and incredible journey with legends of the past in the spirit of that time. Thank you for that.
